Skin Conditions and Concerns
Milia - Milk Spots
These are caused by trapped dead skin cells (keratin) clogging the sweat ducts. These are very common, usually around the eyes and nose, but can occur anywhere. They are usually due to reduced exfoliation of the skin, overuse of moisturisers packing the dead skin cells together and not allowing them to slough away.
Pigmentation
Hyper-pigmention is over-production of melanin causing darker patches of skin and is often caused by sun damage. Hypo-pigmentation is a reduction in the production of melanin causing lighter patches. We can assess your pigmentation and suggest future treatment options to address and control.
Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic condition that can cause symptoms such as flushing, reddening of the face, broken veins, pustules. If left untreated this can worsen. There is no known cure but the symptoms are manageable if treated correctly. We can suggest a number of treatments to help stabilise this condition.
Xanthelasma
Xanthelasma - are yellow flat plaques usually found on the upper or lower eyelids. These are often hereditary but can sometimes be an indication of raised cholesterol levels and are more common in older men and women. Ideally patients with these should have their bloods checked before any cosmetic treatments to remove to ensure they do not require medical treatment. However, these plaques are very easily removed if required.
